Blog Status

Bad news everyone…… I think brettdriscoll.com as you know it is pretty much done. I really ran out of steam last summer with blogging. I began to wonder why I even was writing this stuff in the first place, and if anyone actually cared. So I have decided I need a change. The sites content will remain up, because believe it or not I still do get a lot of traffic from people looking for certain things (which means money in my pocket lol).

When I am finished with other projects, I will revamp this site into a brettdriscoll.com landing site of sorts, with pictures, links, and general information.

Now for the good news……… I haven’t stopped blogging! Anyone who knows me, knows I love music, guitar, writing and recording. I have been working on recording an album for the past year now, and have loads of things I can talk about. SOOOO I started a blog at www.lowstring.com to discuss such topics! THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL BLOG, I repeat THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL BLOG…. so if you want to know about my weekend you will just have to send me an email lol. I just thought it might be interesting to chronical the making of an “album” and everything I learn along the way. The site will also feature reviews of products I have purchased (no I am not getting paid for them), as well as concert reviews.

So, feel free to check out the new site, drop me a line, or stick around here while this site is still up!

Still Alive

I have successfully made the move to Rochester, and have been at my new place of employment for a little over 2 weeks now. It is a little different working in a “city” such as Rochester, I have bums asking me for money, and I have to walk 3 blocks from my car to work, other than that it really isn’t too bad. I have to put up with more traffic, but even that isn’t so bad.

I have been so busy with moving, school, and just normal summer activities, that I really haven’t had time to write anything on the site. I figured I would let everyone know I am still alive and kicking, and come winter time will fire this bad boy back up. I really think I needed a break from “blogging” anyways, because it was becoming old.

Aaron and Gina’s wedding (the first of 5 for me this year) is this weekend, so I am sure I will have news and happenings to report from the wedding itself and the stag party (which is tonight!). It will be great to have all the guys hanging out together again, as we probably all haven’t really hung out together in years. I guess I’m getting to that age where everyone is getting married, so I have to expect the next couple of years to be busy!

Cru is doing fine, and has adapted to his new habitat rather easily. I figured now that he doesn’t, have another dog to play with he would be lonely, but it really just made him that much more annoying…… he doesn’t leave anyone alone, and won’t lie down for two seconds! Oh well what are you going to do….

That is it for me; I will try not to take so long next time in between updates!

Cha Cha Cha Changes

Well it is official; I have taken a Mechanical Designer position at Clark Patterson Associates in Rochester NY. I will be moving from Auburn, up to Perinton (a suburb of Rochester) in about 3 weeks. This is probably the biggest change I have ever made in my life, and is a little scary, but it will definitely be a positive change for me. Although basically I will have the same title as before, I will be venturing into the HVAC design world now, which I am excited for. Aside from the obvious monetary reasons for taking a new job, I will also be closer to my family & friends, and in a much more “happening” location. Music is a huge part of my life, so being up in Rochester will certainly fuel my love for all things music. Granted it is not Nashville or someplace like that, but I if I want to go watch a band some Saturday night, I will have my pick of places! And because all of my recording equipment is currently in Perinton, I will be able to work almost everyday on the CD now…….. so the ball should really start rolling with that project!

I already have new diggs lined up, and will be rooming with my good friend and musical co-hort Mr. Sweeney. No more apartment for this kid! We will have a little house, filled with guitars, recording equipment and empty Bud Light cans………. I can see it now! Cru will be coming with me, so don’t worry he will still be blogging from time to time.

So in closing if as of late it has seemed as though I have fallen off the edge of the blogosphere……don’t fret, I am still here my friends! I am just extremely busy at the moment, but don’t worry within the next month the dust should settle and the smoke should clear!

98 Degrees and John Basedow

No this post is not about some lame boy-band, so just stop right there if you were expecting to hear about Nick Lachey. Speaking of lame boy-bands……. why is it so surprising that Lance “I like ass” Bass is gay? He was the bass singer for a band who called themselves “NSYNC”. Ok sorry to get off topic, back to important things…….

Is it me, or has this summer been ungodly hot in upstate NY? As I am writing this post it is 11:30 AM, and according to weather.com it is already 91 degrees and “feels like 106 Degrees F”. It was 82 degrees in my apartment when I left my this morning! Compare that to Orlando, Florida which is currently at 88 degrees….. or Los Angeles, California where it is 74 and feels like 74? What gives?

Another thing that has really been bothering me is this dude John Basedow………. you know the “Fitness made simple” guy? I would post a pic of him….. but I can’t stomach the thought of his photo on my site. He is a self-proclaimed “fitness celebrity”…….. how does one become a “fitness celebrity”? Can I call myself a “fitness celebrity”? or would that require working out? How bout I call myself the “unfitness celebrity”? I can here the jingle now…….”unfitness made simple….. unfitness made simple”. For $29.99 you can buy my DVD which features 8 full hours of me sitting on the couch watching re-runs of CSI… eating the occasional bag of SunChips, and Hint-o-Lime Tostitos. Ugh I can’t stand it……. my dog even cries when those commercials come on. I think John Basedow is really the devil and the reason it is so damn hot out lately…….. You know how there are those Chuck Norris sites, that say Chuck Norris can do anything? I think there should be a similar site for John Basedow except where we blame all the worlds problems on John Basedow……. That would be cool! Ok I’m done…

July Update

Sorry for the lack of posts as of late, I have been extremely busy and have too much going on! In a nutshell, I am back in school again (after my 3 week summer break lol), still working on music, have a new lady friend in the picture, and last but not least may be moving and switching jobs! The plan is to move up to Rochester, and hopefully ASAP. I need to be out of my apartment in Auburn by the end of August!

Sweens, Nick, Holls, and I played a gig two weekends ago proving that you can pull off an acoustic gig with little to no practice lol. It was fun, but at the same time brought back a lot of memories of the fact that I hate going through the whole “setup” exercise just to play a handful of lame songs I don’t really like lol. All in all it was a good night though, and we have one more gig in Canandaigua August 5th. Hopefully after that show we can get back to recording full time. The album was kind of put on hold due to the fact that it is summer and everyone is busy, but also because we had a couple gigs, and needed to practice some. If I can get up to Rochester shortly, work on the CD will become easier and occur more often.

That is about it for me, but stay tuned! I shall know more hopefully in the next couple days as to what my future plans are! This weekend it is back to Sween’s pad to commence recording again, and I can’t wait!
