I have started using Akismet to help combat comment spam (or talkbacks as I call them now). If you are having trouble leaving a comment then let me know. P.S. A Talkback is a recording system found in almost all recording studios. This system is one that allows engineers and producers to “talkback” to the artist, giving him or her feedback, without leaving a control room.
Before you start commenting and saying nothing works, relax because I aready know! I figured the only way I would finish this, is if I started using it. So here it is, feel free to offer improvements cause lord knows it needs some. I took some elements from hemingway, and also some from k2, and kind of mixed them together. Creating a theme from scratch is much more difficult than I thought it would be. But I have made some headway. 3 columns using only css is a bitch, but I think for the most part it is working (atleasts in IE, and firefox). I still need to implement a site search form (not sure where to put it). Thanks to Kristin for showing me how to do Chris’s comments, and where to find them.

Well it has been a struggle learning wordpress but I am getting there. I have people asking for my K2 scheme so I must be doing something right ;-)! I have been working lately on the photos page. Since all of my fans are lazy and don’t like having to leave me site to visit my flickr site, I have found a wordpress plugin that allows me to display all of my photos right here at brettdriscoll.com. The cool thing is that all of my photos are still hosted at flickr, which has no storage limits (if you are a pro user). The name of the plugin is FAlbum. I highly recommend checking it out, if you are wordpress/flickr user.
I finally have decided on a base theme for wordpress. The winner is binarybonsai’s k2 theme. It seems to have everything that I wanted including asides. From wikipedia Asides are:
In drama language asides are parts of speech that are spoken away from other characters. The character either speaks aside to himself, secretively to other character or to the audience (ad spectatores).
I’m basically going to use asides for sharing things that don’t necessarily warrant their own post. Right now its displaying all the entries from the category “Friends and Colleagues”, but in the future the category “asides” will be displayed. The now playing section will be moved to the about page, which I will be completely redoing shortly.
